| GRUPPO: LEAVES EYES TITOLO: Legend Land GENERE: Gothic/Dark ETICHETTA: Napalm/Audioglobe ANNO DI USCITA: 2006 VOTO: 75 Ispirandosi alla saga di Vinland e alla leggende del viaggio dei Vichinghi verso le coste della Groenlandia e in America nell’anno 1000, nascono i Leaves’ Eyes e la loro musica fortemente celtica. Legend Land è un mini-cd pregevole, pervaso da uno spirito melodico, a tratti epico; Kristine prova tutte le estensioni della propria voce, seguendo strade maestre ben evidenti come i finlandesi Nightwish di ‘Century Child’, esplorando anfratti musicali sospesi tra gothic e power metal tutto al femminile, supportata dalla voce gutturale e acerba di Alexander, monocorde e dalle rimembranze italiane (Lacuna Coil). Le tracce sono brevi, ma l’impressione che se ne ha è opposta: durante l’ascolto si rischia di perdere un po’ la concezione del tempo, avvolti dal fischiare delle canne d’organi in pieno mood fantasy e medievale, dalle distorsioni di chitarra sostenute ma ovattate. La prova è positiva sin dalla prima traccia e title-track ‘Legend Land’ (di cui si ha in chiusura una “extended version”, che differisce solamente per una intro leggermente più prolungata e un outro più calante e meno improvviso): la canzone mostra tutta la grinta dei nostri giovani, in un bel ritornello melodico e accattivante. In effetti i Leaves’ Eyes sembrano puntare molto sul fascino dei loro ritornelli catchy, tutto sommato affatto scontati. Seguono tre songs melodiche, che confermano le impressioni musicali sulla band; la strumentale ‘Lyset’ conclude il pacchetto, quasi a congedare l’ascoltatore, prima della già citata bonus track. Bisogna ammettere che di recente non siamo riusciti ad ascoltare molti nuovi gruppi simili a questo, in bilico tra due generi all’apparenza affini ma in realtà molto distanti, come power e gothic, anche e soprattutto dopo il successo di grandi band come Within Temptation, The Gathering e ovviamente Nightwish, che sembravano aver già saturato il mercato. Una scelta perciò coraggiosa, in fin dei conti, premiata da un lavoro sopra le righe. voi l'avete già ascoltato?che ne pensate?
